New Principal Appointment at Wood Gormley Elementary
Doug Moser

Santa Fe Public Schools announces Douglas Moser as the new principal appointment at Wood Gormley Elementary. Mr. Moser will work with his faculty and staff to ensure the district remains a leader for innovation and excellence in New Mexico.

Douglas Moser discovered that he loved classroom teaching in 1992 when he began his first foray into a Santa Fe classroom by teaching at Santa Fe High School. In time, he explored every school in the SFPS district. He has diverse experience as a private and public school principal and more than a decade of experience as a classroom teacher in New Mexico and overseas. He earned his bachelor’s degree from The College of Santa Fe, a master’s degree from St. John’s College, and second master’s degree from Western Governors University. He traveled the world, guided rafts on the Rio Grande, and taught skiing in Santa Fe. Today he enjoys mountain biking and fly fishing. A few unique educational opportunities he has in his past include attending the Telluride Film Festival with his students, studying comparative education in Brazil on a Fulbright-Hayes grant, and chaperoning at-risk students on a study tour of European cities. Douglas and his wife are looking forward to returning to Santa Fe to serve the district and the community that proved to be the genesis of his career as an educator.

SFPS Board Member, Steve Carrillo, stated, “Douglas comes to us highly credentialed and motivated to become another top notch principal at Wood Gormley. I look forward to supporting the needs of the students, staff, and principal with this new change.”

Santa Fe Public Schools is one of the fastest improving school districts in the State. SFPS has seen steady gains in student achievement, increases in the graduation rate, significant improvements in Advanced Placement (AP) success, and increases in student enrollment because of the hard work and dedication of our great teachers, students, families, staff, and board members.
