Santa Fe Public Schools Band, Choir, Guitar and String Orchestra Students Receive Recognition in the North Central New Mexico Educator’s Association Performance Assessment
Santa Fe, NM – Santa Fe Public Schools’ Band, Choir, Guitar, and String Orchestra ensembles recently performed in NM Music Educators’ Association Music Performance Assessment. SFPS proudly acknowledges music directors and their students, representing ensembles from every SFPS K-8, middle school, and both large high schools. Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Veronica C. Garcia exclaimed, “I congratulate all of our music students and educators. Their excellence is a testament to their hard work and dedication.” Groups earning a “superior” or “excellent” in prepared performances qualify for the New Mexico Activities Association State Band, Choir, or Orchestra Contest. Performances are the culmination of months of preparation and are in themselves an admirable accomplishment for students. According to Leanne DeVane, Music Education Coordinator, “Music Performance Assessment embodies the intensive study in musical skill development, music academics and music literacy, and the ability to render musical performances in an artistic manner.”
