4-7-17 Choirs Compete in State Contest
El Dorado Community School and Santa Fe High School Choirs Compete in State Choir Contest

On Friday, April 7, El Dorado Community School Concert Choir, Santa Fe High School Advanced Mixed Choir, and Santa Fe High School Advanced Women's Choir performed in the New Mexico Activities Association State Choir Contest. El Dorado earned a rating of "superior" and came in third in the state in the middle school division. SFHS Advanced Mixed Choir earned a rating of "superior," and SFHS Advanced Women's Choir earned a rating of "excellent." Entrance into this contest is awarded only to groups who achieve high ratings in the regional Music Performance Assessment. The contest was held in Rio Rancho at Cleveland High School.

Our District and Music Department are extremely proud of students and directors. Participation in state contest places students in the most honorable of occasions, bringing distinction and positive statewide attention to Santa Fe Public Schools. Special recognition and praise go to directors Marilyn Barnes, Santa Fe High School, and Galen Prenevost, El Dorado Community School.
