Immunization Requirements - August 2019

Dear Parents,

Santa Fe Public Schools wants to keep all students healthy. In order to attend school, New Mexico Law requires that all students be up-to- date on all required immunizations or have a valid and current approved immunization exemption on file for each school year. There are new requirements for students entering pre-school and 7th grade. Students who are 48 months or older, entering pre-k must have had two hepatitis A vaccines in order to attend pre-k.  The Meningitis vaccine is now required in addition to the Tdap booster for entry into 7th grade. Also students who were on a "catch up schedule" who received the Tdap between ages 7-10 will need an additional Tdap booster. Please check with your primary care provider to ensure your child is up-to-date on all required immunizations or has the required, approved exemption for this school year.

You may wish to take advantage of the "Got Shots' campaign. Go to the sfps.info website and click on the blue button “Got shots?”  to find a walk in immunization clinic near you.

If your child has a chronic medical condition, please be aware that the school nurse needs current medical documentation from your primary care provider if your child will require medication or medical procedures while at school. Please go to the SFPS website to find the appropriate forms for your child's chronic medical condition. These will need to be up-dated annually.

If you have any questions, please contact Anita Hett Lead Nurse at 505-467-2529.
