Teacher Evaluation in Santa Fe Public Schools


In New Mexico, teachers are evaluated under the NMTEACH uniform accountability framework. The annual evaluation process is a combination of student achievement data, principal observations, teacher attendance and student surveys on teachers. It is important to note that 2016-2017 (current school year) is the first school year in which Santa Fe Public School teachers evaluations will include attendance data. Per the New Mexico Public Education Department's communications, teachers will being to be penalized once they have exceeded more than six absences. Absences include sick leave, personal leave and vacation days. Excluded leave includes leave taken under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), bereavement, jury duty, military leave, religious leave, professional development and coaching.

Tasks handled by the Department of Accountability and Strategy:

  • Managing OASYS user accounts

  • Dissemination of NMTEACH Summative Evaluation Reports

  • Coordinating NMTEACH Student/Parent survey

  • Coordinating NMTEACH Teacher Survey

  • Submitting NMTEACH Related data to NM PED
