SFPS Sustainability Policy

Based on institutional policy from other school districts, and input from the Superintendent and other SFPS staff, the Sustainability Program drafted new sustainability policy (No. 542), titled: "Organizational Sustainability through Environmental Stewardship". This policy was unanimously approved by the SFPS Board of Education on February 21, 2017. Follow the link to the left to read the Sustainability Policy.

Predating the new policy, the SFPS Board of Education adopted an Energy Management Resolution (030111B) in early 2011, directing SFPS to develop short and long term strategies for facilities construction and renovation, facilities management, and preventative maintenance, in order to achieve three primary goals:

1. Reduce energy use;
2. Save operational dollars; and
3. Reduce carbon emissions.
