Early PreK (3Y)

Nye 3Y Preschool Application (for 2021-22)

SFPS offers free preschool for three-year-old children in Santa Fe. We offer half-day programs at Nye Early Childhood Center. Our 3Y preschool programs are open Monday through Friday with no school on Wednesdays. Morning session is from 7:40am to 11:02pm. Afternoon session is from 11:40pm to 3:02pm. Families must transport typically developing students to and from school.

Nye Early Childhood Center provides educational programming to support academic, social, and emotional development of our students. Teachers and staff are highly qualified to work with and educate young children. We are dedicated to improve early learning outcomes for preschool students in our community. We provide inclusive classrooms for a variety of special needs pre-school students alongside their typically developing peers. We offer an innovative program that serves a diverse population. The Nye ECC program is guided by the NM FOCUS: Essential Elements of Quality for Public Education Department Preschool Programs which places emphasis on quality improvements to focus on children’s growth, development, and learning—so that each child has an equitable opportunity to be successful as they begin their education.

What you need to know:

All families interested in a preschool program will submit an online Preschool Application.

To be eligible, children must be 3 years old on or before August 31st of the upcoming school year.

The application submission period will be open from March 1 to May 1, 2021.

All our classrooms have a maximum enrollment; thus completing an application does not guarantee enrollment. Seats are offered based on a lottery.

All applications submitted during this window will be part of the Preschool Student Lottery that will take place on May 12, 2021.
All applicants who apply after May 3, 2021, will be placed on a waitlist.

Families must transport typical children too and from school.

How to apply:

Steps to Apply and register:

1. Fill out an application (buttons below). A confirmation number will be sent to you. You will be able to use this number to check your status on the waitlist after the lottery takes place. Parent(s)/guardians may select AM or PM preference within the Preschool Application form and indicate primary language for child.

2. If your child receives a seat, you will receive an email and a letter that you must sign and return in person at 610 Alta Vista Street within ten (10) calendar days. You must provide a valid ID to accept your student's placement. If acceptance is not completed after the ten calendar days, you forfeit the seat.

3. After your acceptance letter is stamped, you will go to www.sfps.info to complete online registration. You will submit a New Student Registration form.

4. To complete registration, you will then go to Nye to register your child. You will need stamped acceptance, birth certificate, valid parent or guardian's photo ID, up to date immunization record, two proofs of residency, and Tribal Membership documentation (if applicable).
