Parent Meeting Invitation 2019

 What Parents Need to Know!

 

When:        Tuesday, October 22  from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm

Where:      BF Young Building, 1300 Camino Sierra Vista, Santa Fe, NM 87501

You are invited to a meeting to learn about Title I Part A, Title III, and Title IV Part A federal grant programs. Title I provides funding for schools to provide additional help for students in core subject areas. Title III provides funding for language instruction for limited English proficient and immigrant students. During this meeting, SFPS staff will talk briefly about these programs and answer any questions you may have. A Spanish language interpreter will be provided. Le invitamos a una reunión para obtener información sobre los programas federales Título I, Parte A, Título III, y Título IV. El Título I proporciona fondos para que las escuelas brinden ayuda adicional a los estudiantes en áreas de materias básicas. El Título III proporciona fondos para la enseñanza de idiomas para estudiantes con dominio limitado del inglés e inmigrantes.


Durante esta reunión, el personal de SFPS hablará brevemente sobre estos programas y responderá a cualquier pregunta que pueda tener. Se proporcionará un intérprete de idioma español. Title I, Part A Program
The Title I, Part A program helps students in high poverty schools meet the same high academic standards expected of all children. Title I, Part A funding is distributed to districts primarily based on poverty as determined by the US Census Bureau. Title I, Part A funds are used to address the academic needs of students. For school year 2019-2020, Santa Fe Public Schools has twenty-one schools participating in school-wide Title I programs, one neglected children site, and one participating private nonprofit (PNP) school.

Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program 
Teachers at Title I schools may be eligible for student loan forgiveness. Please visit Federal Student Aid's website for more information: https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/repay-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/teacher

Title I, Part D Program
The Title I, Part D program improves educational services for children and youth in local and State institutions for neglected or delinquent children and youth so that they have the opportunity to meet the same high academic standards all children in the State are expected to meet. For the current year, Santa Fe Public Schools provides Title I, Part D funds to the Santa Fe County Youth Development Program. 

Title II, Part A Program
The purpose of the Title II, Part A program is to increase academic achievement by improving teacher and principal quality. This program is carried out by:

  • increasing the number of high qualified teachers in classrooms
  • increasing the number of highly qualified principals and assistant principals in schools
  • increasing the effectiveness of teachers and principals by holding school districts and schools
  • accountability for improvements in student academic achievement
