Bilingual Seal Options for Students

Requirements -

There are four paths to qualify; each path is described below.

 Option 1: Tribal Language Certification

Student meets graduation requirements and the requirements set by the Tribe to demonstrate Native language proficiency.

 Option 2: Units of Credit and Assessment

Student meets graduation requirements and:

  • Has earned a C or higher in their ELA/ELD courses
  • Has earned four credits in a language other than English (with a C or higher)
  • Has passed an approved assessment in a language other English (such as AP Spanish Language or Literature, CLEP, etc.) 

Option 3: Units of Credit and Portfolio

Student meets graduation requirements and:

  • Has earned a C or higher in their ELA/ELD courses
  • Has earned four credits in a language other than English (with a C or higher)
  • Has successfully delivered a presentation, participated in an interview panel, and produced sample writing 

Option 4: Assessment and Portfolio

  • Student meets graduation requirements and:

  • Has earned a C or higher in their ELA/ELD courses
  • Has passed an approved assessment in a language other English (such as AP Spanish Language or Literature, CLEP, etc.)
  • Has successfully delivered a presentation, participated in an interview panel, and produced sample writing
