COVID-19

Santa Fe Public Schools follow the guidance from the New Mexico Department of Health, Public Education Department, and Center for Disease Control regarding management of Covid-19 cases within the schools.

At this point in time, testing is recommended when students or staff experience symptoms of Covid-19 (these include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea).

It is also recommended that those who are exposed to a positive individual test on day 5 after exposure or at any time if begin to have symptoms of COVID.

Those who test positive for COVID should stay home and away from others to lessen the spread of COVID until symptoms have improved and they are fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.

A person with COVID-19 may return to school only when, for at least 24 hours, they remain fever-free without fever- reducing medication and their symptoms are improved.

Regardless of vaccination status, it is recommended that people recovering from COVID-19 go back to normal activities taking added precaution over the next 5 days – such as hand hygiene, wearing a mask, physical distancing, and taking steps for cleaner air (e.g., increasing fresh air flow, purifying indoor air).
