Assessment and Accountability

The Assessment For Learning Department supports student learning by administering a balanced assessment system. A balanced assessment system promotes the use of data from formative, interim, and summative assessments to make instructional decisions and monitor student progress. The goal of the SFPS assessment system is to provide equitable and inclusive assessments that:

  • Inform day-to-day decisions while learning is taking place;

  • Measure the progress students are making over time; and

  • Provide information about the effectiveness of school and district educational programs.

Assessment For Learning works to develop assessment literacy throughout the district by fostering systemic collaboration, building a culture of co-learning, promoting a culture of evidence-based decision making, and creating an urgency to improve.
