Exceptional Student Services

Welcome to Exceptional Student Services with Santa Fe Public Schools. Students determined to be eligible for Specialized education have a right to a Free Appropriate Public Education under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). At Santa Fe Public Schools we serve as an artery of support to schools, students, and families providing specialized instruction, consultation, specialists, related services and general support. We believe that student success can be procured from successful partnerships, honest and comprehensive dialogue, and positivity.

“Congress finds the following: Disability is a natural part of the human experience and in no way diminishes the right of individuals to participate in or contribute to society. Improving educational results for children with disabilities is an essential element of our national policy of ensuring equality of opportunity, full participation, independent living, and economic self-sufficiency for individuals with disabilities.”

Who We Are

Our Mission

Our mission is to support exceptional students to reach their own maximum potential in order to be independent and productive members of society.  We collaborate to understand student needs, create high-quality and meaningful IEPs, and provide services across a continuum of developmental levels and settings.  We do this to effectively promote and create community access, employability, independence, and appreciation for diversity of our students and their families, educators, our community, and the global society.
