New Mexico Educational Retirement Board (NMERB) is the provider of retirement benefits for educators across the state. NMERB offers a robust Defined Benefit Plan designed to ensure financial security throughout your retirement years.

With our plan, both you and your employer contribute a specified percentage from your salary, pooling resources to build a solid foundation for your retirement. When the time comes to embark on your well-deserved retirement journey, you'll receive a gross monthly, lifetime benefit calculated through a transparent formula:

Final Average Salary (FAS) (X) graduated multiplier (=) Annual benefit

A pension is calculated using a graduated multiplier. The pension factor changes every ten years up to year 30 and then remains at 2.4% thereafter.
