SFPS Safety and Security FAQs
Due to the recent school shootings in Parkland, Florida and Aztec, New Mexico, as well as a number of threats at schools across the nation, including here in the Santa Fe Public Schools (SFPS), we have received a number of questions regarding safety and security. We created an FAQ page to help parents and families find answers to their questions. To access the FAQs, please click here.
A safe learning environment is essential for students of all ages. Without it, they are unable to focus on learning the skills needed for a successful education and future. When violence is part of the educational setting, all students are affected in some way. Santa Fe Public Schools recognizes and prepares for a variety of things that could threaten the safety of our schools. While we hope that our students' educational years are safe and productive, the issue of school safety is a major concern to Santa Fe Public Schools at all levels. This department is dedicated to providing a safe, secure and peaceful learning environment for our children and our staff. We work with the school community and public safety providers to develop individual plans for each site and our district to assure safety concerns are addressed, and prevention plans are in place.
