9-3-2021 SFPS COVID-19 Update
Posted on 09/03/2021

A contractor at Santa Fe High School tested positive for COVID-19 on August 31st, 2021 and received the result on September 2nd. The individual, who had last been on campus on September 2nd, is isolating and will continue to do so until released per Department of Health (DOH) guidelines.  Each individual case is investigated thoroughly by our COVID-19 response specialist, lead nurse and/or school nurse to identify any close contacts at school. Those parents are contacted and provided with instructions for quarantine and testing. All close contacts who were identified as a result of this exposure have been notified.

Contact tracing does not indicate this case was contracted from within SFPS. All personal identifying information will remain confidential and all reporting and cleaning protocols are being followed.  The period for quarantine has expired for one student.

According to Public Education Department guidelines dated August 23rd, individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and who have had close contact with a COVID-19 infectious individual are not required to quarantine if they meet the following criteria:

  • Are fully vaccinated (i.e., more than two weeks following receipt of the second dose in a two-dose vaccine, or more than two weeks following receipt of one dose of a single-dose vaccine)

  • Have remained asymptomatic since the current COVID-19 exposure

Any parent/guardian of a student testing positive for COVID-19 must provide a list of close contacts to DOH and SFPS’ lead school nurse or the COVID-19 response specialist who assists with contact tracing.

Any student who displays acute COVID-related symptoms while at school will be sent home out of precaution. A student sent home due to non-COVID-19 symptoms does not mean that the student is positive for COVID-19.
