About ESSER III Funds

Santa Fe Public Schools will be participating in fund provided under the American Relief Plan Act, Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds (ESSER III). These funds support SFPS's response to pandemic-related needs and will support students and families to make up for any learning loss caused by the pandemic.

Title I, Part A Program

The Title I, Part A program helps students in high poverty schools meet the same high academic standards expected of all children. Title I, Part A funding is distributed to districts primarily based on poverty as determined by the US Census Bureau. Title I, Part A funds are used to address the academic needs of students. For school year 2019-2020, Santa Fe Public Schools has twenty-one schools participating in school-wide Title I programs, one neglected children site, and one participating private nonprofit (PNP) school.

Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program 
Teachers at Title I schools may be eligible for student loan forgiveness. Please visit Federal Student Aid's website for more

Title II, Part A Program

The purpose of the Title II, Part A program is to increase academic achievement by improving teacher and principal quality. This program is carried out by:

  • increasing the number of high qualified teachers in classrooms
  • increasing the number of highly qualified principals and assistant principals in schools
  • increasing the effectiveness of teachers and principals by holding school districts and schools
  • accountability for improvements in student academic achievement 

Title IV, Part A Program Title IV, Part A focuses on well-rounded educational opportunities for students. Through this program, SFPS Office of Student Wellness programs provide social-emotional support for at-risk students; as well as district-wide college and career support for high school students.
