SFPS Innovation Expo returns April 23rd

The SFPS Innovation Expo, a vibrant celebration of creativity, technology, and education, will be held on April 23rd from 5 to 7 p.m. at Early College Opportunities High School, 2301 W. Zia Road. This free, family-friendly event invites the entire Santa Fe community to experience firsthand how students and educators are embracing innovation in the classroom and beyond.

Now in its seventh year, the Expo showcases the many ways Santa Fe students and educators are leveraging technology to amplify student voices, build critical thinking skills, and enhance future-ready learning. Students, teachers, and district staff will share projects, and community organizations will highlight programs and provide interactive exhibits.

This year’s theme is: What does innovation mean to you? This includes engaging and authentic ways to learn, create, and help others. Students will showcase projects and activities demonstrating how they leverage digital tools, problem-solving, and ingenuity to create impact. Community partners like STEM Santa Fe, New Mexico PBS, Positive Energy Solar, Little Globe, Santa Fe Public Library, New Mexico State Library, and the Lensic will be there too, offering fun things to try and learn about.

“The Innovation Expo uplifts collaboration and possibility,” said Katy Grunewald, SFPS Innovation Coordinator. “It’s an opportunity for SFPS schools, district departments, and community partners to explore ideas, learn together, and connect with the community."

La Expo de Innovación de SFPS, una vibrante celebración de la creatividad, la tecnología y la educación, se llevará a cabo el 23 de abril de 5 a 7 p. m. en la Escuela Secundaria Early College Opportunities, ubicada en 2301 W. Zia Road. Este evento gratuito y familiar invita a toda la comunidad de Santa Fe a experimentar de primera mano cómo estudiantes y educadores están adoptando la innovación en el aula y más allá.

En su séptimo año, la Expo muestra las diversas maneras en que estudiantes y educadores de Santa Fe aprovechan la tecnología para amplificar la voz estudiantil, desarrollar habilidades de pensamiento crítico y mejorar el aprendizaje para el futuro. Estudiantes, maestros y personal del distrito compartirán proyectos, y las organizaciones comunitarias destacarán programas y ofrecerán exhibiciones interactivas.

El tema de este año es: ¿Qué significa la innovación para ti? Esto incluye formas atractivas y auténticas de aprender, crear y ayudar a los demás. Los estudiantes presentarán proyectos y actividades que demuestran cómo aprovechan las herramientas digitales, la resolución de problemas y el ingenio para generar impacto. Colaboradores comunitarios como STEM Santa Fe, New Mexico PBS, Positive Energy Solar, Little Globe, la Biblioteca Pública de Santa Fe, la Biblioteca Estatal de Nuevo México y Lensic también estarán presentes, ofreciendo actividades divertidas para probar y aprender.

“La Expo de Innovación fomenta la colaboración y las posibilidades”, dijo Katy Grunewald, Coordinadora de Innovación de SFPS. “Es una oportunidad para que las escuelas de SFPS, los departamentos del distrito y los colaboradores comunitarios exploren ideas, aprendan juntos y conecten con la comunidad”.
